Dekton by Consentino is an ultra-compact surface composed of over 20 natural minerals. High-quality raw materials are used to produce an extremely robust and durable material under high temperatures and extreme pressure. Kitchen splashbacks made from this durable material can withstand high temperatures and are very easy to clean.
Cleaning of your Dekton splashback
For daily cleaning, simply use water, a soft sponge and, if necessary, a mild cleaning agent. Then simply wipe the surface dry with kitchen towel or a clean cloth.
Removing stubborn stains
To remove stubborn stains, you can use special cleaning products such as scouring agents. Our tip to tackle particularly stubborn stains: it is best to remove soiling promptly so that it cannot dry in the first place. Grease, varnish and wax can easily be removed with acetone or turpentine.
Important: Dekton is characterised by its high resistance to acids. Alkali and acid-based cleaners should nevertheless be used with caution! Make sure that they do not come into contact with the surface for a prolonged period.
Is it different to ceramics?
In many respects, the two materials are similar. Above all, they are extremely robust and durable. Nevertheless, there are some differences in terms of the technical characteristics.
What is Dekton?
Developed by Cosentino under a protected brand name, it’s a material that consists largely of natural raw materials fused together in a special manufacturing process, and compressed under high pressure. However, the material mix is the same for all versions, as the respective designs are subsequently printed onto the surface. This results in numerous design possibilities.
Compared to ceramics, the surface is smoother and less textured. Moreover, it is not only absolutely cut and scratch resistant, but even more abrasion resistant than granite. The silk matt surface is completely stain resistant and extremely easy to clean.
Placing hot pots and pans directly onto its surface and splashbacks can be used behind hobs without hesitation. Ideal for areas that are subjected to heavy use.
What are ceramics?
These materials are created via the typical manufacturing process for ceramics. They are fired at high temperatures which gives them their extreme durability and robustness. Ceramics are a 100 per cent natural material. The design results from the composition of the individual material components.
In direct comparison, the surface has a somewhat more natural and rougher finish. Ceramics are also cut and scratch resistant. It is perfectly possible to cut directly on a ceramic worktop. However, to prevent your knives from becoming blunt, it is advisable to use a suitable base. Although ceramics are also temperature resistant, the use of a mat is recommended for hot pots and pans.
These exclusive materials are becoming increasingly popular in modern kitchens thanks to their robust properties.
